Executive Management

Kendall Larsen, CEO, President and Chairman
Prior to joining VirnetX, Larsen was a security domain expert at Osprey Ventures, part of the investment team focusing on early-stage companies in the business and consumer technology marketplace. Before Osprey, he was senior vice president and general manager of Phoenix Technologies' security division.

Larsen was also senior vice president of OEM and developer sales at RSA, where he successfully ran the worldwide sales strategies, program and staff of the company's security tools business. While there, he played a key role in growing RSA Security's BSAFE security tools business.

Larsen has more than 18 years of high-tech experience, with an emphasis on strategic market development and execution. He held other senior sales and management positions at corporations such as Ramp Networks, General Magic, Novell Inc., IBM/Rolm and Xerox Corporation.

Larsen holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah.

Edmund "Gif" Munger, CTO, Inventor and Director
Munger is the chief technology officer for VirnetX and the co-inventor of the company's technologies. He played an instrumental role in the development of "Zero Click" instant secure connect mechanisms for automated virtual private network (VPN) initiation and management systems. He is also the co-inventor and lead designer for third-party identity management and collaboration services based on encryption and certification technology as well as the protocol for secure communications with assured system availability called NetEraser.

Prior to joining VirnetX, Munger was the chief system architect and assistant vice president for the Technology, Research and Integration Business Unit at the Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC).

Previously, Munger was the chief system architect for the FBI's Counterterrorism Data Warehouse Prototype and has worked on several advanced defense systems.

Munger holds a Master of Science degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from MIT and a Bachelor of Science degree in naval science from the United States Naval Academy.

Dr. Robert "Bob" Short III, Chief Scientist and Inventor
Short is the co-inventor of VirnetX technologies, particularly its "Zero Click" instant secure connect mechanisms for automated VPN initiation and management systems.

Prior to joining VirnetX, Short was the assistant vice president and division manager at the SAIC, a leading provider of services and solutions to all branches of the U.S. military, agencies of the Department of Defense, the intelligence community, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other U.S. government civil agencies, as well as to customers in selected commercial markets.

From 1994 to 2000, Short held senior positions within SAIC. Prior companies he's worked for include ARCO Power Technologies, Inc., Sperry Corporate Technology Center and Sperry Research Center.

Short holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Purdue University along with a Master of Science degree in mathematics and a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech.

William E. Sliney, CFO
Prior to joining VirnetX as the company's chief financial officer, Sliney was the director of Enterra Energy Trust, an oil and gas trust based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada that acquires, operates and processes petroleum and natural gas assets in Canada and the United States. Previously, he was the CFO of Legacy Software Inc. and the CEO of Gump's, a high-end department store retailer based in San Francisco, California.

Sliney holds an M.B.A. from the Anderson School of Management from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Kathleen Sheehan, Chief Administration Officer
Kathleen Sheehan has been an intricate part of VirnetX since 2004, actively involved with the company equity raise and management.  She is a seasoned veteran in human resources and administration and has been on the ground floor of three successful startups.

Prior to joining VirnetX, Kathleen was a Commercial Property Manager at JBD Properties with 20 years of experience in personal and commercial real estate. Positions she held over the course of her resume include; Executive Recruiter at Armen and Associates, Sr. Director of Human Resources at CHW Advertising and Human Resource and Office Manager at Realtime Consulting, Inc. now Modis.

Sameer Mathur, Vice President, Corporate Development and Marketing
Mathur is the vice president of corporate development and marketing for VirnetX. He's a security expert with deep expertise in VPNs, firewalls, authorization, encryption, cryptography, infrastructure, PKI, TCP/IP and IPSec.

Prior to joining VirnetX, Mathur was the product line manager for SonicWALL, Inc. and senior product manager for Zone Labs Inc. He was also the senior product marketing manager at Phoenix Technologies Ltd. and held various international engineering and marketing roles for OEC Japan, IBM Japan and Pertech Computers Ltd.

Mathur holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Gujarat University, India.

Dr. Victor Larson, Director of Research and Development
Vic Larson is the director of research and development and a co-inventor of the VirnetX technologies.

Prior to joining VirnetX Vic Larson worked for over 20 years doing system engineering, software design, and technical program management under contract to many branches of the department of defense and the intelligence community. Vic Larson worked on numerous advanced prototypes to implement new solutions to secure communications, remote sensing data extraction and processing, intelligence information extraction, and data visualization.

Dr. Larson holds a Ph.D. in Information Technology from George Mason University, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech.

Gordon Warren, Director of Engineering
From 1997 until joining VirnetX in 2008, Warren worked for SAIC on various projects for the Department of Defense, mostly related to software for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. It was during this time at SAIC that he worked on the design and implementation for the prototype technologies that are now the foundation for VirnetX.

Prior to SAIC, Mr Warren worked for various other contractors in the Virginia and DC area; designing and building software systems for the US military and intelligence agencies.

Warren holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Michigan State University.

Jon B. Weaklend, Controller
Prior to joining VirnetX, Weaklend was the Sr. Accountant at Daniel M. Ukestad & Associates, a CPA firm in Carmel, CA, working with individual clients such as VirnetX, Inc. He was a Sr. Accountant at Site Technologies, an internet website development company based in Scotts Valley, CA.

Weaklend was also a Controller in the hospitality industry at such locations as Mission Ranch in Carmel, CA, and Big Sur Lodge in Big Sur, CA. He was the Director of Finance and Administration for Global Weather Dynamics, Inc., an international aeronautical message switching company. Then CFO for Global ATN, Inc. in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, a research and development company in the aeronautical messaging industry.

Weaklend has more than 20 years experience in accounting and finance management.

Greg Wood, Sr. Director of Corporate Communications
Greg Wood brings to VirnetX over 25 years of marketing and advertising experience from major brands and top advertising agencies. Executive brand experience includes Safeway, Burger King, Pacific Gas & Electric, Taco Bell, Pepsi, Nissan, Nutri-System and Supercuts with advertising agencies that include J. Walter Thompson, Chiat/Day, McCann Erickson, DDB Needham, Tracy-Locke/BBDO and Crossover Creative.

Greg's areas of marketing expertise include strategic branding, new business development, enterprise, licensing, product merchandising, consumer education, multicultural, investor relations and public relations.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis.
